PTS INTRODUCES MULTI-CHEMISTRY QUALITY CONTROLS FOR USE WITH CARDIOCHEK™ BRAND WHOLE BLOOD TEST SYSTEMS
Indianapolis, Indiana - October 25, 2002 - Polymer Technology Systems (PTS) announced the availability of PTS PANELS- Multi-Chemistry Controls for quality control testing of the PTS CardioChek™ brand whole blood test systems. PTS PANELS Multi-Chemistry Controls contain two different concentration levels used to verify system performance for total cholesterol, triglycerides, glucose, and ketones testing.
These multi-chemistry controls enable a wide range of quality control testing for professional and home use, and are the first commercially available, clinical chemistry controls of their kind. The PTS PANELS Multi-Chemistry Controls contain liquid, ready to use, bi-level (low and high concentration) materials in an easy-to-use, dropper format. This control material has an expiration date of two years when stored at 2 to 8 degrees C (35-46 degrees F). Once opened, the material is stable for four months at room temperature.
"The Multi-Chemistry Controls were developed to make quality control testing more efficient and cost effective for our customers," said Bob Huffstodt, President and Chief Operating Officer for PTS. "These combined controls simplify the entire QC process and help ensure that our customers are correctly performing testing on our systems."
The CardioChek P·A portable, whole blood test system provides efficient and affordable testing for the CLIA-Waived, physician office laboratory market and other point-of-care settings. This system is capable of performing both lipid panel testing (total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, triglycerides, and calculated LDL cholesterol) from a single drop of blood, as well as single test capabilities for total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, triglycerides, glucose, ketones, and creatinine. The CardioChek P·A system meets the monitoring requirements of the National Cholesterol Education Program (NCEP) and most tests are eligible for Medicare reimbursement.
PTS also offers another system called CardioChek, a consumer version cleared by the FDA for performing at-home testing of total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, triglycerides, glucose, and ketones via single test strips from a simple fingerstick blood sample. The CardioChek system is currently the only at-home testing device with this wide range of testing to support patient cholesterol/lipid and diabetes self-
