PTS ANNOUNCES PRINTER OUTPUT CAPABILITY FOR THE CARDIOCHEK™  P·A TEST SYSTEM

INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA - APRIL 1, 2003 - Polymer Technology Systems, Inc. (PTS) announced today the availability of the CardioChek P·A  Thermal Printer for use with the PTS CardioChek™ P·A professional whole blood test system. The CardioChek P·A Thermal Printer, designed to meet the needs of the professional office, allows individual test results to be printed out when performing tests on the CardioChek P·A.

The CardioChek P·A Thermal Printer takes up little space. It measures seven inches long, 3.5 inches wide, 5.5 inches high, and weighs only three pounds. The CardioChek P·A Thermal Printer is capable of printing test results with time and date information upon completion of testing, or can be printed from recalling a previous test in the CardioChek P·A analyzer's memory. The printer is capable of printing on 500-count thermal labels or thermal paper rolls. The printer and all accessories are available from Authorized PTS Distributors.

"We hope the introduction of the PTS printer gives physician offices an additional means to counsel patients, improve record-keeping and encourage compliance with therapy," said Tony Kokjohn, VP of Sales for PTS. "This new printer is a natural extension to our CardioChek P·A Test System, and we're excited about the opportunity this introduction brings to the professional market."

The CardioChek P·A provides the fastest available test results on the most portable, whole blood test system for the CLIA-Waived, physician office laboratory market. This efficient and affordable point-of-care testing system is capable of performing both lipid panel testing (total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, triglycerides, calculated LDL cholesterol, and total cholesterol: HDL Cholesterol ratio) from a single drop of blood, as well as single test capabilities for total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, triglycerides, glucose, ketones, and creatinine. The CardioChek P·A system meets the monitoring requirements of the National Cholesterol Education Program (NCEP) and most tests are eligible for Medicare and other insurance reimbursement.
